Sad to see this one go as it is primarily a game for kids. I did try it out and did have some fun with one of the mini games - the tower garden defense.
I also tried out Vanguard which had some potential in it but seems underdeveloped. I tried it out as there was some kind of martial art class in it but I found the gameplay not very good so I stopped. So its end comes as not much of a surprise.
The impending closure of Free Realms is indeed a surprise as there was talk that more than 10 million people had joined it. One of the reasons for its closure was that many of the kids have grown up and moved on to other games. The game has quite beautiful graphics but I got to admit the gameplay
was too simplistic and not always interesting in certain areas. That could be one of the reasons why
some of the kids have moved on to play other games.

What's Buzzing? The Best Free MMORPG Games Released In June 2013
Last month three of them were released - Neverwinter, Marvel Heroes and Rift.
I did not play much of Rift as its specs seem too high for my system. Have been playing quite a bit of the other two and so far they seem to be pretty good.
Marvel Heroes is action packed but looks like it is still in its beta stage - very little character customisation at the beginning. You could see many of the same looking superheroes running around in the game. Still, I had a lot of fun playing as Hawkeye.
As for Neverwinter, I did not like my first class which used a big sword - I deleted and started a new one called the Guardian Fighter (using a sword and shield) which was more enjoyable.
Both games are worth checking out.

One more day for free Portal
One more day to download the pc game Portal (May 24). I have actually played 14 levels of it and it is quite intriguing. Mac users can also download it. First you need to download Steam.
Seems to be very difficult after 14 levels though.
