The chairman of the anti-crime watchdog, MyWatch, R. Sri Sanjeevan, was shot at close range at 4.30pm on Saturday in Negeri Sembilan. At the moment he is in critical but stable condition.
A special task force has been set up to investigate the attempted murder but this has been met with some cynicism. This is probably because Sanjeevan had been trying to expose police corruption and their links to the underworld.
Sanjeevan had complained
hours before he was gunned down that he received news that 'a cop had
told some syndicate fellow that he would get them firearms' and planned
shots to be fired at his house to scare him and his family.
